Update 11/11/2020

Well it’s been a while since I last posted. A lot has happened over the last year. I’m still single. hahaha! Let’s review, shall we? The world, as we know it, changed in March 2020. I had heard about COVID-19 over in China. I really never thought much about, at the time. I knew that China as in deep trouble and that this was very bad but could it reach the U.S. and do that much damage? I mean China is on the other side of the world.

On Friday March 13th, I came back to the office from lunch and was told that we would be closing the office and working from home for 2 weeks due the virus. I have discussed my terrible commute and traffic on this blog. For me, this was a break from the traffic. It’s now November and I am still working from home. I really don’t mind. I can work longer and I feel I’m more productive when I don’t have to waste over 2 hours a day sitting in traffic. I still go into the office occasionally, when needed. It is very eerie. A 20 story building that once had around 2,500 people working in it is now deserted.

Then the riots broke out. I remember sitting at home watching the whole thing unfold on live TV. I could tell that the crowd was getting more and more violent and then they began trashing police cars, smashing storefront windows and setting fires. This, of course, was to protest the killing of George Floyd. While I believe George Floyd should still be alive, that is not protesting. They were just criminals that were exacerbating the horrific problems that small businesses were already facing due to the pandemic. They were just adding insult to injury for these poor businesses that were just trying to survive.

We just had the Presidential election. Even that is mess. I believe Biden will be the next President of the United States. He has promised a lot. My question to Biden is, do you really have a plan to get this country back to normal? He says he does. I sincerely hope that he does. Career politicians promise a lot but, when elected, usually don’t deliver.

I am doing my part to keep myself and those around me well. I wear a mask whenever I need to go out in public. I think that is a small thing to ask.

I has been a very eventful year, indeed. This just my view in a nutshell. I don’t think anyone is really reading this but it’s good therapy for me. I will try and make my next post more upbeat. That’s it for now. Stay safe!

Online Dating In Your 50’s

I have been divorced since 2014. I entered the online dating world after being faithfully married for 30 years. Yikes!

Guys, if you can stay married…do! There tons of beautiful women in their 50’s. Even some in their early 60’s are gorgeous. But after roughly 5 years of being in the online dating world, I have to say that I have just about seen it all. I have been in a few relationships that I thought were golden, then poof…something happens…things change and the whole thing runs off the rails.

There are a lot of women out there with a lot of issues. Some are clinically mentally ill. So, if you are contemplating entering the online dating world, be prepared. You will go out on countless one time dates (I call them meet and greets since they aren’t really dates). It can get tiring so take a break when you need one.

As far as the dating sites go, there are free and paid. The best free ones for me are, Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, Bumble, Tinder and Hinge. I am sure there are more but those I have tried. The best paid ones for me are Match and Zoosk. Zoosk seems to have a slight edge over Match right now.

To wrap this post up, unlike people in their 20’s and 30’s, we folks that are in our 50’s are burning daylight here. We don’t have years and years to look for our perfect mate. Hopefully, I will find mine soon.

Stay tuned for musings!

Commute and Traffic

I spend a lot of my time complaining about traffic…probably too much time. The traffic in the Atlanta area, where I live, is horrendous.

Getting from point A to point B can be a struggle. Drivers cut you off, you have to dodge pot holes on some roads, the gridlock caused by wrecks. It’s never ending. It really is crazy.

My doctor had to increase my blood pressure medication. He said you are stressing out too much. How’s that commute going? Ha! I need one of those work from home jobs.

I’m sure that I have plenty of company though. I know many of us are in the same boat. I just see all of those hours, spent in the car, floating away. Sirius XM helps but you still want to just fly over all of those cars. Whatever happened to flying cars anyway. Weren’t we supposed to have those by now?

Anyway, this is my first post to this site. I am still working on the layout but I wanted to get something posted. I have no idea if anyone will ever read this but it’s fun to write.

Look for more musings coming soon.
